BRIDGING THE GAP
Making Care Possible

BETHESDA IS MY FAMILY
Meet Marie*. She is 45 years old and lives with diabetes and high blood pressure. Life has been incredibly difficult for her. Several years ago she lost her husband, later she lost her two daughters.
When Marie first came to Bethesda, she was in poor health and emotionally broken. Our team welcomed her with care and compassion - providing medical care and encouragement. Every month she returned for her check up and medication and every visit ended with the same words.
"Bethesda is my only family."
To Marie, Bethesda became more than a clinic. It was a place where she was known and where she found compassion, dignity and care. Recently, during one of her monthly visits, she surprised us.
With a smile, she said:
"I feel much better now. I have started a small business, and I would like to make a small contribution to Bethesda to help pay for my medicines. Bethesda is my family."

COMPASSION FUND
With your help - all care at Bethesda is subsidised and patients pay around 50% of the true cost.
For those who cannot afford this - the Compassion Fund helps ensure they receive care.
Many of the patients supported by the Compassion Fund come regulary for ongoing care managing conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes. Others come in urgent need of one time treatment.
Whatever their situation, one thing remains the same - no patient is ever turned away if they cannot afford to pay.

WHEN GOD MET A MAN IN THE MOUNTAINS
Since 2007, Bethesda has been sending a team to a very remote village high in the mountains. The journey takes five hours by road followed by a 2-3 hour hike to reach the church at the top.
Here is what happened to one man during one of those clinics.
“Last night I had a dream, in the dream I saw missionaries and doctors at the church here in Roque. In the dream I was told to come to the church here today and I would find someone to pray with me so that I could accept Christ as my Savior. I did not know there was going to be a clinic here today but after my dream I got up and walked over an hour to be here to find missionaries and doctors here.”
That very day, he gave his life to Jesus. He met with the pastor of the church and their relationship has continued helping him grow in his faith and understanding of the bible.

MOBILE MEDICAL CLINICS
In many remote areas of Haiti, access to medical care is still out of reach. Even for those living close to a clinic, barriers like cost, transportation, or even not having suitable clothing can prevent people from seeking help.
So at Bethesda, we go to them.
We partner with local churches, setting up temporary clinics where our team brings essential tests, treatment and medicine. Each person pays a very small fee ($1US) - which goes to support the church, while Bethesda provides the care completely free of charge.
On average, around 350 people attend each clinic. As they wait, they also hear the hope of the gospel shared by pastors, evangelists and our staff.
With your support, we can continue to reach more communities - bridging the gap and making care possible.

An average mobile clinic costs around $5000 for one day.
